Danish rosewood cabinet designed by Borge Mogensen for C.M. Madsen & FDB Mobler, Model A232, circa 1950. The cabinet is crafted of dark Brazilian rosewood with brass hardware with t shape keys, maple interior with silverware drawers and adjustable shelves, raised onsolid rosewood legs. Excellent original condition, lightly cleaned and oiled.

Aarhus City Hall, a masterpiece conceived by architects Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller, is an exemplary "Gesamtkunstwerk," or total work of art, in which every piece of furniture, interior element, and decorative feature was custom-designed for the building’s intended functions. When the City Hall was inaugurated on July 2, 1941, it revealed a unique and visionary architectural achievement that continues to stand out. In 1994, its importance as a functionalist masterpiece was recognized when it was designated for preservation by the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces due to its distinctive design and architecture.
Hans J. Wegner reflected on his contributions to the City Hall during his collaboration with Møller and Jacobsen, stating, "I created the sketches for all the furniture for the City Hall. Of course, I discussed my ideas with Erik Møller, who was responsible for the building, and he may have contributed ideas as well. When you have only three men and a supervisor, you end up working very closely together, and the designs for the City Hall's furniture are a collective effort. I learned a great deal from that experience."
Wegner’s involvement with Aarhus began when Jacobsen and Møller won the commission for the City Hall's design. As a student at The School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen, he took a leave of absence in 1938 to relocate to Aarhus. During this time, he was responsible for developing furniture designs and creating small-scale prototypes for the new City Hall.
Wegner designed the chairs and furnishings for the City Hall and had several of his early pieces crafted by local carpenters. It was also in Aarhus that he established his first design studio. Legally, Jacobsen and Møller held the intellectual property rights for all furniture made for the City Hall. However, Wegner received recognition from the two prominent architects, which allowed him to launch three furniture series inspired by the City Hall designs during the project's development phase.
Scandinavian Mid-century lounge chair designed by Kurt Olsen for Slagelse Møbelværk, Model 221. Typically crafted in teak, this rare version features a Brazilian rosewood frame with sculpted wide arms and is upholstered in the original black leather. The construction mirrors Hans Wegner's Papa Bear chair, with the back leg integrated into the arms for enhanced durability and long-lasting strength. Built to last for generations, the chair has been carefully restored, preserving the original back while reupholstering the seat cushion to match.

Danish armless bench designed by Hans Wegner. Model JH555, crafted of a solid teak frame with angled cross stretcher. Newly upholstered in classic Scandinavian striped wool textile by Tove and Edvard Klint Larsen.
This bench was designed by Hans Wegner and handmade by Johaness Hansen for the Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition of 1949. The bench was then purchased at the renown furniture show by a US military serviceman and shipped back home via the US military.
Beginning in 1949, Johannes Hansen supplied the The Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition with limited production handcrafted furniture. Wegner explained ”Johannes Hansen workshop was small, with only five or six assistants. They were not use to producing large numbers. If they could sell just the four chairs we made for the show, we would be happy”*
The bench, model JH555, "from his breakthrough year was an innovative contribution to the attempt to abolish large heavy upholstered sofas" “Along with the JH555 bench, Wegner had simultaneous breakthroughs in his work shown at the The Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition of 1949, which included the round Chair JH501 and the Folding Chair JH512.”*

Unique and multi-functional Brazilian Modern marble-top coffee table and ottomans by Munis Zilberberg for Celina Decoracoes, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1958. The coffee table features a rosewood X-shaped base with a marble top, accompanied by four ottomans that conveniently store underneath the tabletop. The set has been professionally restored in natural oil and newly upholstered in black leather.

Amazing 1930s Danish Deco button-tufted settee upholstered in the original olive-green mohair. The settee is finely crafted with a solid wood frame, eight-way hand-tied copper springs, horsehair, and cotton padding, all covered in the original green mohair. Finely sculpted armchairs in dark Brazilian rosewood, attributed to Danish architect Kaare Klint, circa 1939, Denmark. These chairs showcase elegantly curved arms and tapered legs, newly upholstered in soft, full aniline-dyed navy blue leather. With beautiful wood grain and an elegant, organic form, the frames have been fully restored and are in excellent condition, showing only minor signs of age-appropriate use.

'Ingrid' dining chairs designed by Niels Koefoed for Koefoeds Hornslet, crafted of solid Brazilian Rosewood with a dramatic sculpted form. The elegant Scandinavian set includes six side chairs, all newly upholstered seats in the black and white striped wool textile.

Monumental 11-Foot Round Brazilian Rosewood Dining Table by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, 1950
This stunning dining table features striking star pattern at the center which reflects the form of the base raised on six hexagonal legs with cross stretchers meeting in center. It is composed of five parts: one half-base assembled, two half-base components, and two table tops, all built on-site for seamless installation. The table will include six custom pull-out trays.
This table comfortably seats 16 guests.
The original finish has been meticulously preserved with a hand-rubbed, high-gloss shellac polish.
Having been stored in our warehouse for over 20 years, we’ve decided to restore and exhibit this exceptional piece exclusively at the SF Fall Show. Prior it was hidden in an Bay Area antique dealers workshop for 30-40 years.
Notes: Underneath the table are the original aluminum tracks for pull-out trays which were missing. The trays will be rebuilt. Bases consists of solid rosewood legs, cross stretchers solid rosewood and secondary woods.

1930s Scandinavian lounge chairs by Frits Hansen, Odense, Denmark. Handcrafted with solid wood frames featuring eight-way hand-tied copper springs, horsehair, and cotton padding. Newly upholstered in #112 Slate Mohair by Maharam with a button tufted back with white leather buttons. Slightly smaller than model 1669, this classic and timeless design offers comfortable and supportive seating and is in excellent condition.
