Madsen's designs are characterized by their clean lines, simple shapes, and use of natural materials. He was particularly known for his chair designs, many of which have become iconic examples of mid-century modern style. Madsen's work was exhibited widely throughout Europe and the United States, and he received several prestigious design awards during his career.
Svend Madsen had a close connection to the Danish furniture manufacturer Moreddi.
